Exploring landscape through the lens of collage and cubist strategies, my work is inspired by a simultaneous experience of the worlds we make inside our heads and our encompassing exterior physical world. Themes of memory, family stories, and perception collide in varieties of abstraction. I use collage as metaphor for how we visually experience spatial layers in the world. Imagery begins as combined photographs and drawings, which are reinterpreted as paintings using acrylics, oils and woven plastic. My process entwines form and idea through photography, memory, drawing, collage, painting and weaving.
