Inspired by the devastating Hayman Fire of 2002, this small mixed media painting incorporates an aluminum coating—a material commonly used in roofing. To properly set it, the aluminum must be burned, echoing the destructive force of fire. Beneath the surface, now completely obscured, lies a painting of the mountain where the fire began.
