Statement
Lisa Michot is a mixed-media sculptor who resides
in Lafayette. She received her BFA from Louisiana
Tech University and her MFA from Brooklyn College
in New York. She has been a member of Spark Gallery
in Denver since 1999, and exhibits her work primarily
around the metro area. She also teaches Art at Front
Range Community College in Westminster and Longmont.
Lisa developed her papier-mâché technique
after moving to Boulder in 1999 and finding it perfect
for the dry climate. Through this process she has
tapped into her Cajun background of south Louisiana
and the Mardi Gras culture of theatricality, humor,
and spontaneity. Recently Lisa has incorporated digital
photography into her process. After completing a series
of papier-mâché mice in a variety of
themes, Lisa then photographed them on location.
