2008
Dust
to Dust is about the fleeting quality of life.
Like an archeological dig the piece is composed
of layers of debris. Visually sifting through the
elements offers a glimpse of the beauty and vigor
of youth, but also decay, decomposition and then the
possibility of regeneration.
While
working on this piece I came upon a Robert Frost poem
that deals with a similar theme.
Nothing
Gold Can Stay
Nature's
first green is gold,
Her
hardest hue to hold.
Her
early leaf's a flower;
But
only so an hour.
Then
leaf subsides to leaf.
So
Eden sank to grief,
So
dawn goes down to day.
Nothing
gold can stay.
